Job Description
The Supervisor, Inclusive Child Care Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the child care centre while ensuring high-quality, inclusive programming for children with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and other developmental disabilities. The position combines operational leadership with specialized support to promote children’s developmental, behavioural, social, emotional, and educational success.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise the daily operations of the child care centre and act as the Designate Supervisor when required.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate educators and support staff.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized learning and support plans for children with developmental disabilities.
Adapt curriculum and learning environments to meet each child’s developmental, behavioural, and communication needs.
Provide guidance to educators on inclusive teaching strategies, behaviour management, and developmental programming.
Collaborate with parents, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, behaviour analysts, and other professionals to support children’s development.
Monitor children’s progress and maintain accurate developmental records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, Ministry licensing requirements, and centre policies.
Participate in staff training and provide professional development related to inclusive practices.
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Required Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services, Behavioural Science, or a related field.
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Minimum 5 years of experience working in licensed child care.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Demonstrated experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and other developmental disabilities.
Experience developing and implementing individualized support plans.
Strong knowledge of inclusive education practices and positive behaviour support.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
Valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
