Job Summary
Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor will be responsible for the training and the communication of expectations, standards, results and feedback for the employees in their department. The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor will also be responsible for identifying and solving problems with not only employees, but parties including carriers, suppliers and other Olymel plants. The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor also manages quality by ensuring compliance with HACCP/SQF and applies hygiene regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices.
Major Responsibilities
1. Assign work with instruction and objectives during start-up and throughout the shift;
2. Communicate expectations/operational objectives/standards to employees;
3. Follow-up on work assignments;
4. Quantify variances regarding manpower needs;
5. Communicate efficiency & quality results to employees;
6. Identify and solve problems with employees, carriers, suppliers, and other Olymel plants;
7. Implement method changes/conduct tasks analysis;
8. Provide feedback (positive & constructive) to employees;
9. Hold shift start meetings with employees;
10. Confirm overtime availability with employees;
11. Follow-up on company policies (discipline, Health & Safety, HACCP/SQF); participate in and adhere to all Health & Safety policies and regulations;
12. Ensure Collective Agreement is applied and respected;
13. Identify, plan, provide and follow-up on employee training (new employees, cross-training, Health & Safety, HACCP/SQF, etc.);
14. Analyse and fill-out reports and documents;
15. Participate in scheduled meetings (Transition/Production/Planning/Special Projects, PVC Review);
16. Enter data in Production, Invoicing, J. Walk and No AX systems;
17. Collaborate with other supervisors (Production, Maintenance, and Shipping) to ensure fulfillment of manpower needs;
18. Maintain a presence on the floor;
19. Manage emergencies and solve problems in a reactive manner;
20. Meet and communicate informally;
21. Participate in and adhere to all Health & Safety policies and regulations;
22. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Experience
• High school diploma;
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in supervising in manufacturing, preferably unionized environment;
• Sound knowledge of the food industry;
• Knowledge of HACCP/SQF or ISO regulations an asset;
• Good judgement, team player and autonomy;
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, AS400;
• Bilingualism (French and English) an asset.
