Job Overview
You will be part of the dynamic team of communicators who provide a wide variety of communications services to the Commission. Reporting to the Manager, Investor Education and Engagement, and with a dual reporting relationship to the Director, Communications & Education, the Senior Strategist, Brand, Marketing & Research is responsible for the BCSC’s significant investment in social marketing and public opinion research focused on investor education.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate, the key responsibilities include:
Reporting to the Director of Communications
• Lead strategy development for marketing and market research projects with BCSC’s advertising agency
• Manage advertising and research partnerships to ensure maximum integration and value
• Provide strategic marketing and research insights and advice to the director and executive team
• Lead preparation of Board and industry presentations and speeches
• Collaborate closely with in-house teams in Investor Education and Engagement, Enforcement, Corporate Communications, Media and Public Affairs, and others as necessary
Reporting to the Manager, Investor Education and Engagement
• Create engaging multimedia content, including photography and video, to support campaigns, educational initiatives, and events, improving overall content reach and user engagement.
• Plan, develop, and execute paid social media campaigns to increase public awareness of investor education initiatives and ensure key messages reach diverse audiences across digital platforms.
• Analyze campaign performance using research and analytics tools, applying insights to improve future campaign design, optimizing audience reach, and strengthening program effectiveness.
• Support the BCSC’s participation and engagement in national and international investor education forums, including the CSA, NASAA, and IOSCO, by assisting with materials, communications, and information sharing.
• Collaborate closely with in-house teams in Investor Education, Enforcement, Corporate Communications, Media Relations and Public Affairs, and others as necessary
What You Bring:
• A minimum of eight (8) years in marketing communications including supervisory/management experience and experience running social media campaigns and managing significant budgets and corporate brands
• A degree, certification, or extensive direct experience in marketing, applied market research, and communications
• Or an equivalent combination of education and training
• Proven results delivering integrated advertising campaigns for traditional and digital media
• Ability to synthesize data and information quickly to draw, report, and apply succinct conclusions for investor education
• Sufficient seniority and credibility to brief, engage, and report to senior executives about marketing and research
• Experience managing significant budgets and corporate brands
• Strong written, verbal, numeric, and analytical skills
• Broad knowledge of social marketing and behavioural economics trends and best practices
• Strong project management skills
• Creative and storytelling skills with proven ability to produce clear, engaging narrative
• Knowledge and experience of video and photography for social media.
• Experience with running social media ad campaigns
• Strong MS Office and related skills, including Excel, PowerPoint
• Public sector, financial services, social marketing, and/or agency experience an asset

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $109,345 (min) – $142,007 (mid) – $174,667 (max)
The starting salary for this position will be determined considering the successful candidate’s relevant experience and education, salaries of other employees in the same salary range, market conditions, and other relevant factors. Starting salaries are normally below the salary band midpoint.
