What We Do
The Private Wealth Portfolio Services group is responsible for running the day-to-day discretionary investment management operations of Fidelity Private Wealth and Fidelity Wealth. A core objective of this role is to support the investment team by increasing the control, efficiency, and consistency of private wealth investment operations. This includes two core functions:
1) Discretionary trading for Fidelity clients. This includes trade modelling, pre/post trade compliance, providing trade instructions to trade desk and daily reconciliation and;
2) Account and portfolio oversight
Success in this role requires collaboration on new and innovative solutions to streamline private wealth portfolio management operations using leading edge, technology-based, data-driven solutions.
The successful candidate requires exceptional business acumen paired with strong analytical/communication skills to help facilitate the development and adoption of effective solutions for the wealth management business.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Deliver effective oversight and control of market relate portfolio activities. This includes working dynamically with our relationship managers, and partners across the firm on trading, settlements, new accounts, reconciliations, security master, and related activities.
Ability to act on behalf of the investment team to address their needs and issues relating to compliance and investment operations matters
Review, clear and/or escalate pre-trade compliance issues with portfolio managers, relationship managers, and compliance counterparts on behalf of the investment team
Work independently to understand and resolve issues and projects as they arise; coordinate with other Fidelity Canada business partners and act as representative for private wealth as necessary
Coordinate with internal/external investment management business partners (i.e. Trading, operations, capital markets, relationship managers, dealer compliance) on matters as necessary, including assisting with resolution of issues
What We’re Looking For
Completion of a University degree or equivalent work experience
5+ years of relevant experience
Exposure to Portfolio management, trading, compliance and/or investment operations for an asset manager or related entity
Analytical/programming experience
Previous experience in a similar investment operation and or portfolio services role
CFA Level 1 or CIM is a must have
Other designation such as CFA/MBA/related masters degree or programming designation is an asset
What you will Bring
Excellent analytical and technical skills, including an advanced level understanding of Microsoft Excel, Access. Knowledge of VBA, SQL, and Python an asset.
Excellent communication skills with an ability to articulate medium to complex issues to a variety of audiences, including portfolio managers, traders and other PSG team members
Quick learner and solutions-oriented problem solver
Solid understanding of product structures and investments covering multiple asset classes (equity, fixed income, alternative funds)
Experience with middle and back-office operations, including corporate actions is an asset
This is a hybrid role with a mix of remote and in-office working
Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.
