Manager of Centralized Operations and Services Full Time

Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Dibenjikewin Onaakonikewin (“KIDO”) is the operating body for Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (“KI”) on matters related to awaashishag, oshkaadizag egwa dibenjikewinan (children, youth and families).

KIDO is dedicated to fostering a healthy self, healthy dibenjikewin (family), and health community, serving members both on and off KI. KIDO carries out services using the Maamo Dibenjikewin Kanawaabajikewin (“MDK”) service model, which embodies the traditional practice of child rearing and care where family, extended family, and community are involved in supporting awaashishag and oshkaadizag whose dibenjikewin are unable to do so. KIDO is proud to provide 24/7/365 services, supports, and resources to members of KI.

Established in April 2023, KIDO has grown significantly to meet the needs of its community and is now looking to fill the position of Manager of Centralized Operations and Services (“COS”) to support the continued growth, development, and optimization of the organization. Reporting to the KIDO Director, the Manager of COS will be a key senior leadership position directly responsible for optimizing and managing the delivery of KIDO’s centralized support services such as HR, IT, Learning & Development, Communications, and administrative functions.

This position is a full-time, permanent position based out of the KIDO office in Thunder Bay. Frequent travel to the community of KI and other KIDO offices, such as Sioux Lookout, will be required.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Management & Service Delivery:
– Oversee and optimize the delivery of all centralized support services to ensure they are efficient, effective, and meet the needs of KIDO operations across all sites.
– Lead continuous improvement initiatives for internal processes within central services, focusing on efficiency, resource optimization, and cost-effectiveness.
– Ensure Dibenjikewin Kanawenjikewin (Family Care) 24/7 departments receive timely and effective administrative and technical support.
– Identify and mitigate operational risk within central services and ensure strict adherence to all relevant policies, regulations, and funding requirements set by Indigenous Services Canada, as well as the unique requirements of KIDO law.

Fiscal Responsibility & Resource Allocation:
– Oversee budgets and financial performance of central services, ensuring responsible allocation of funds from government partners and adhering to funding guidelines.
– Focus on cost control and maximizing the impact of every dollar spent to sustain and expand KIDO’s vital community services.
– Implement financial reporting and tracking mechanisms utilized by KIDO.

Team Leadership & Development
– Lead and develop the Centralized Operations and Services department, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.
– Oversee the development and implementation of training and learning programs to enhance staff capabilities across the organization.
– Provide guidance and support to reporting managers and teams achieve their goals.
– Lead and manage organizational change initiatives effectively within central services, implementing process improvements and technology adoptions to enhance service delivery.
– Drive the effective integration of technology to improve operational efficiencies, data management, and communication across all KIDO functions.

Internal Stakeholder Engagement:
– Manage strong internal relationships with the Director, Assistant Directors, and all KIDO staff, ensuring clear communication and collaborative problem-solving.
– Ensure that central service decisions are communicated effectively and align with the operational needs of the teams servicing the Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inniuwug community.

Other Responsibilities
– Participate and complete training by KIDO, and provided by the KIDO Training Department, including operational training, KI history, and MDK database.
– Travel as required for training and other KIDO operational needs.
– Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the KIDO Director, with directives provided at times by the KIDO Assistant Directors.

Skills and Qualifications
Experience and Education Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a related field is required.
– Professional certifications such as Project Management Certification (PMP), Lean Six Sigma or Certified Manager is an asset.
– Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in management roles, with a proven track record of leading teams while overseeing operations and the delivery of high-quality supports.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
– Demonstrated expertise in optimizing operational processes to improve efficiency and service delivery, particularly in a not-for-profit or public sector organization.
– Ability to translate organizational objectives and strategic direction into actionable plans for central services, ensuring alignment with KIDO’s overall vision.
– Strong skills in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation, with experience in ensuring cost-effectiveness and accountability of budget usage.
– Experience in leading organizational change initiatives, implementing process and technology implementations, while ensuring seamless service delivery.
– Exceptional ability to build and foster high-performing, collaborative teams.
– Proficiency in leveraging technology and data analysis to drive operational efficiency.
– A deep understanding of and commitment to KIDO’s mission, vision, the MDK service model, and the cultural context of the KI community and KI Family Law.

Other Requirements:
– Ability to provide a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
– Valid driver’s license, with the ability to provide a driver’s abstract, and reliable transportation.
– Eligibility to work in Canada.
