We are searching for a competent Maintenance Person responsible for performing general building repairs and preventative maintenance. The role includes completing special maintenance projects, responding to guest service requests, conducting routine inspections, maintaining maintenance records, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards while delivering a high level of customer service.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on building systems including electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and mechanical equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair building systems, fixtures, appliances, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Conduct minor repairs and maintenance work such as carpentry, painting, drywall repair, flooring repairs, and replacement of hardware.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency calls to resolve operational or safety concerns.
• Inspect interior and exterior areas of the property to identify repair needs and ensure building safety standards are maintained.
• Test and adjust building systems to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and inspection reports as required.
• Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment and report shortages to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and company policies while performing all duties.
• Assist with coordinating and supporting specialized contractors when required.
• Maintain the security and safety of the property, guests, and employees while carrying out maintenance activities.
• Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with guests and staff regarding maintenance matters.
Employment Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school.
• 1–2 years of experience in general building maintenance, property maintenance, or a related field; building trade experience considered an asset.
• Experience performing basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and minor mechanical repairs.
• Trade certification in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or refrigeration is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in building maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of painting techniques, wall coverings, and general facility upkeep considered an asset.
• Sound understanding of occupational health and safety regulations.
• WHMIS training is considered an asset.
• Physical mobility and stamina to perform manual tasks, including lifting, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently and respond to maintenance issues and emergency situations.
