Type of trucking and equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Tractor-trailer, Automatic transmission, Manual transmission.
Job Duties: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping, securing load and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Load and unload goods as required. Professionalism in customer service.
Job Requirements: Valid Driver’s License (Class 1 or A). Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Valid passport. Criminal record check. Driver’s validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Physically demanding, long hours sitting. Handling heavy loads. Able to handle up to 50lbs.
