Terms of the Position:
– Terms: Permanent/Full-time
– Hours: 40 hours/week
– Wage: $21/hour

o Discretionary, performance-based bonus
– Other Terms:
o Must be physically fit as the role can be physically demanding.
▪ This role requires bending, crouching, kneeling, walking, standing and sitting.
▪ The role requires the ability to help lift up to around 60-100 lbs when needed.
o Must be available to work weekdays and weekends.
o Work Setting: client’s residence in long-term care home.
Minimum Skills and Experience Requirements:
– Education:
o High school diploma and Personal Support Worker Diploma/Certificate
– Experience Requirements:
o At least three months or more of personal support worker experience
o Demonstrate previous experience working with elderly individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia or similar cognitive conditions
– Knowledge:
o Demonstrate an understanding of supporting individuals experiencing Alzheimer’s, dementia or similar cognitive conditions and their family members
– Personal Attributes:
o Be client focused, dependable and reliable
o Possess efficient interpersonal skills and patience
o Demonstrate honesty and good judgement
Job Duties:
– Assist with mobility and physical activity of the client, including helping lift or move the client when needed
– Feed client and assist with drinking fluids, including monitoring intake of food and fluids
– Assist the client with getting in and out of bed, chairs, wheelchairs or other furniture
– Monitor and report to the employer and family on all health changes, including changes in personality, attitude or mood
– Provide emotional and social support through companionship and interactions
– Assist the client with bathing and personal hygiene
– Assist the client with dressing and undressing
– Accompany the client during social outings, walks and appointments
– Support client in interactions with other residents and staff, prioritizing and ensuring wellbeing of client at all times
