Executive Director – Bowen Island Health Centre Foundation + Community Health Centre Full Time

Organizational Profile
The Bowen Island Community Health Centre (the Health Centre) is a primary healthcare clinic committed to providing quality and integrated patient care to Bowen Island residents and visitors. The Health Centre operates in a new, purpose-built facility and features a multi-disciplinary team where family physicians and nurse practitioners work alongside nurses, community health workers, social workers and other health professionals to support the physical and mental health and well-being of patients and the community. In addition, the Health Centre is a sector advocate and community partner for local services and resources. The Health Centre is part of the North Shore Primary Care Network and works under contract with Vancouver Coastal Health.

About the Role
This is an incredible and unique opportunity for an experienced leader who is committed to the advancement of integrated interdisciplinary, patient-focused primary healthcare, ideally with good knowledge of or direct experience with primary healthcare services and delivery. The ideal candidate will bring a collaborative leadership style, with the ability to advocate, negotiate, communicate, and problem solve in a complex, multidisciplinary environment. The preferred candidate will bring experience in non-profit governance, financial management, government relations, and community engagement. This position requires a post-secondary graduate degree and/or training in public health administration or human services with at least seven (7) years senior management experience in a community health or clinical setting. A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.

Reporting to the Board of Directors of the Foundation, the Executive Director is responsible for strategic and operational oversight to ensure delivery of the community’s urgent and primary healthcare services and support the Foundation’s governance and funding activities. In alignment with the organization’s strategic direction, mission, and values, the Executive Director is responsible for Foundation related work, Health Centre team oversight and overall financial management and administrative operations required to support and deliver healthcare services and Foundation commitments. The Executive Director advances community, government, and sector relations to build increasing capacity to provide quality, accessible healthcare services and programs on Bowen Island.

The salary for this position is $150,000 supplemented by a competitive total compensation package. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires living on or within commuting distance to Bowen Island. The preferred candidate will be committed to becoming immersed in the local community, and ‘being on-island’ is highly desirable.

The Health Centre is in a brand-new purpose-built facility completed in early 2024. Bowen Island is nestled in the heart of Howe Sound, just a short ferry ride from Metro Vancouver.
