About OARC
The Ontario Association of Residents’ Councils (OARC) is a non-profit organization formed nearly 45 years ago to strengthen the voice of residents living in Ontario’s long-term care homes through their respective Residents’ Councils.
Our mission is to empower long-term care residents to understand their rights and share their lived experiences. Our vision is that every resident shapes the place they call home. OARC is the only provincial association with a mandate to support and empower residents and their Councils, and to educate others about resident experiences and the issues that affect them.
Position Summary
This role is well-suited for a person-centred individual who brings energy and enthusiasm to their work, has long-term care experience, enjoys building meaningful relationships, and thrives in collaborative environments. As the Education and Home Support Regional Coach (EHSRC), you will support long-term care homes and Residents’ Councils in the Central Region by delivering education, coaching, and resources that promote resident engagement and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with long-term care homes and Residents’ Councils
Deliver OARC’s educational programs and workshops virtually and in person
Provide coaching and support to strengthen Residents’ Councils
Collaborate with the OARC team to develop tools and resources
Represent OARC at regional events and LTC partner meetings
Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and evaluation
Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in long-term care settings
University degree or college diploma
Experience as a Residents’ Council Assistant and/or adult educator is an asset
Knowledge & Expertise:
Familiarity with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021
Strong understanding of resident rights and person-centred care
Skilled in co-designing educational tools and responsive solutions
Communication & Collaboration:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Confident facilitator and presenter
Ability to collaborate with residents, LTC licensees, educators, and sector partners
Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Experience with CRMs, databases, video conferencing, VOIP, and social media
Personal Attributes:
Proactive self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills
Flexible and adaptable; able to work independently and as part of a team
Experience contributing to committees or project working groups
Position Requirements
This is a remote position with frequent travel required, including overnight stays
The main remote workspace should be ideally situated within the Central Ontario municipalities within the Greater Toronto Area, Niagara Region, Parry Sound, Durham Region, etc.
A valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of business-use insurance coverage are required for this role
A current criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory
