The Líĺwat Nation is a progressive First Nation whose traditional territory encompasses Whistler and Pemberton, BC. With a membership of over 2,200 people, approximately 1,650 of whom live in the community, the Líĺwat Nation is the third largest First Nation in British Columbia. The Líĺwat Nation is striving towards self-determination for, and by, its citizens by continuing to exert control over its traditional territory and resources. With economic development focused on land and resource management, the Líĺwat Nation is building the economic foundation for a sustainable community by exploring opportunities in retail, forestry, agriculture, energy projects and construction.
The Líĺwat Nation’s government, headed by a Political Chief, a Cultural Chief and an 11-person Council, is committed to transparency and employs best practices in all aspects of governance. The Líĺwat Nation has achieved its Systems Certification through the First Nations Financial Management Board. About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a for a dynamic and experienced individual who thrives in both strategic leadership and hands-on HR management to take on the role of Director of Human Resources with Líĺwat Nation. The successful candidate will have a Human Resources degree or certificate equivalent issued by a recognized learning institution, and Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is preferred. Experience working with a First Nation or Indigenous organization is integral. This will be supplemented by a minimum six (6) years experience in Human Resources, including a minimum of three (3) years at leadership/management level and be passionate about shaping workplace culture and driving organizational growth. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and collaborating with key organization leaders, the Director of Human Resources will be responsible for providing leadership, professional knowledge, and guidance/support in the development, management, administration, and evaluation of Líĺwat Nation human resource management affairs. This includes developing, managing, and evaluating HR policies, programs, and processes related to staffing, training, health and safety, employee relations, compensation, and benefits. Balancing both strategic planning and day-to-day administration, this role ensures a strong and effective workforce.
The anticipated salary for this position is $93,475 – $101,556 annually based on 35-hour workweek.
