Cando is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic financial leader with strong experience in project-based accounting, funder reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and finance operations. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Finance will manage Cando’s finance function and support accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing financial operations and supporting day-to-day accounting functions. Responsibilities include:
Accounts payable and accounts receivable
Payroll oversight
Bank reconciliations
GST filings and rebate claims
Monthly and quarterly reporting
Project and funder reporting, including claims
Cash flow planning
Annual and project budgeting
Internal financial controls
Coordination of the annual audit process
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field
CPA designation preferred
AFOA Canada Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) designation considered an asset
Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role
Experience with project-based accounting, funder reporting, budgeting, payroll oversight, audit coordination, internal controls, and cash flow management
Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO) preferred
Advanced proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
Sage 300 experience considered an asset
Knowledge of Indigenous peoples, communities, and culture considered an asset.
