Description of the Position:
The Director, Creative & Content leads SickKids Foundation’s in-house creative team (SickKids Creative Studio) to deliver exceptional, brand-aligned content across every channel. Equal parts creative leader and operational strategist, this role provides creative direction that inspires bold, emotionally resonant storytelling while building the systems, tools, and skills needed to future-proof the team. The Director will partner closely with Brand Marketing, Communications, Precision Marketing, and Technology & Data teams to translate insight into creative that drives awareness, engagement, and revenue and ensures the team can continue to handle more work internally and keep pace with emerging marketing and creative technologies. This leader ensures the Foundation’s creative output remains innovative, efficient, and deeply connected to donor and audience behavior in a digital-first, AI-enabled world.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
1. Creative Direction & Brand Expression (35%)
• Provide hands-on creative direction across campaigns, brand storytelling, and content production (including digital, social, video, CRM, and print).
• Evaluate and mentor work from writers, art directors, designers, and motion/video creators to uphold creative excellence.
• Champion a “social-first” and “digital-native” mindset in all creative development, ensuring channel relevance and modern execution.
• Serve as internal creative counterpart to external agency partners, pushing for bold, high-quality, audience-driven work.
• Evolve the Foundation’s creative identity and storytelling standards in collaboration with Brand Governance.
2. Leadership & Team Development (25%)
• Lead, coach, and inspire a multidisciplinary team; nurture an environment of curiosity, craft excellence, and accountability.
• Support the Associate Director, Creative Services, in managing workflow, prioritization, and resourcing.
• Identify skill gaps and design upskilling plans in emerging creative competencies (motion, UX/UI, CRM writing, modular content design, and AI tools).
• Build a diverse, inclusive creative culture that reflects SickKids’ values and audience.
3. Creative Operations & Process Optimization (20%)
• Oversee creative workflows, intake systems, and performance dashboards in partnership with Marketing Operations.
• Continuously improve team efficiency through automation, templates, and creative enablement tools.
• Implement and monitor SLAs and KPIs to ensure timely delivery without compromising creative quality.
• Partner with Data & Analytics to evaluate creative performance and apply insights to future work.
4. Innovation & Future-Readiness (15%)
• Lead exploration and implementation of generative AI, content management, and personalization tools to scale creative production.
• Collaborate with CRM and journey marketing teams to design creative that drives engagement through data-driven storytelling.
• Champion experimentation in new formats and technologies (AR, modular storytelling, AI-assisted video editing, etc.).
5. Strategic Collaboration & Influence (5%)
• Serve as the creative voice on cross-functional leadership forums.
• Collaborate with fundraising, technology, and communications leaders to align creative vision with business goals.
Represent Creative Services as a strategic partner that adds measurable value to marketing and donor engagement.
Qualifications
While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:
• Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in a senior management capacity with a proven track record of creative leadership experience (agency experience preferred).
• Demonstrated experience in creative conceptualization and storytelling (e.g., copywriter, art director, creative director, or similar), with strong conceptual thinking and a curiosity for applying AI and emerging technologies in modern creative work.
• Demonstrated success leading and mentoring high-performing creative teams.
• Proven ability to balance creative excellence with operational and team leadership.
• Deep understanding of creative development for digital, social, video, and CRM channels.
• Strong knowledge of creative operations and resourcing models.
• Familiarity with AI and automation in creative workflows is an asset.
• Exceptional collaboration, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Total Compensation Package
Expected Hiring Salary Range: $140,000.00 – $165,958.00; with the ability to progress to a maximum of $190,853.00 To ensure fair and equitable pay at SickKids Foundation, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the Director, Creative & Content.
