As a remote Head Cook, you will play a vital role in the operation of our youth program. You are responsible for all aspects of food production from meal planning, safe food preparation and cleanliness of the remote kitchen and remote dining areas. The youth camp operates for 6 weeks during July and August with 30 youth participants on site. The cook will live on site with the youth during this period of time to provide all meals and snacks for their time there. The Head Cook will maintain a warm, welcome, and professional disposition on and off duty. The setting and accommodation are rustic.
Your work will include:
Be up and ready for work each day
Food preparation for the day, Including Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Adhering to a budget
Cleaning of the kitchen and dishes
Serving of Food
Meal Planning
Food ordering and receiving of food orders through GFS and grocery store shopping
Maintain HACCP and temperature logs
Adhere to Outland’s Health and Safety regulations
Communication with the Camp Supervisor on daily/future plan
Assist with any/all associated with the closing ceremonies
Maintain a positive presence with participants, and provide mentorship

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Individuals who have an interest in culinary, education, training, or socially supportive environments.
Applicants must have a current Food Safe certificate.
Current Level 1 First Aid certificate is an asset.
Camp cooking experience is an asset.
High standards in maintaining a clean and organized Kitchen.
Be comfortable living in a remote environment
Experience running an industrial kitchen
Be able to handle the following physical demands:
Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
Climb ladders or stairs.
Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time.
Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands.
Perform work with arms at full length.
Work with arms above shoulder height.
