The General Helper position is critical to the success of the culinary team. In a kitchen support role, the General Helper works a variety of shifts throughout the day and acts as the fuel that keeps the kitchen running smoothly. Kitchen support workers will complete various tasks throughout the day based on their shift schedule and time of day.
The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:
All meals and accommodations are provided
Travel is provided to and from the site locations from designated locations in the Thunder Bay, Dryden and surrounding area
Private room with cable television
Access to Wi-Fi
Access to laundry facilities and detergents
Access to a gym and common areas
Key responsibilities include:
Maintaining a clean and organized workstation throughout shift, including lunchrooms, dining room, servery, ware wash area, main kitchen and storage areas
Regular sweeping and mopping of all floors, including walk-in coolers and storage areas
Stocking of all needed food, beverage and paper/disposable supplies as required
Disposing of all garbage, cardboard and recyclables as required
Correctly label, date and rotate all products put out for service
Assisting in food production as required
Receiving and storing of supplies (food, beverages, chemical and paper/disposables)
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Large-scale kitchen assisting in camp settings, banquet halls and/or hotels is a strong asset
Current Food Safe certification is an asset
Ability to commit to a 2 week on/2 week off rotation
A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction
Ability to prioritize multiple task demands and organize a work schedule
Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site
Ability to handle the following physical demands:
Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs
Climb ladders or stairs
Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time
Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
Perform work with arms at full length
Work with arms above shoulder height
