Day camp Counsellor / Lifeguard / Spring Outdoor Educator
Full time summer position (April 27, 2026 to August 28, 2026)
Work location: Baxter Conservation Area, 7498 Carter Rd, Kars, ON
There is no direct public transportation to the worksite; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation prior to applying.

About the RVCA:
RVCA is one of 36 conservation authorities in Ontario responsible for furthering the “conservation, restoration, development and management of natural resources in the watershed” under the Conservation Authorities Act. We are dedicated to protecting people and property from natural hazards like flooding and erosion, while conserving the wetlands, forests and natural areas that reduce their impacts.
About the Job
You will be responsible for:
• Assisting the Baxter Conservation Area Supervisor and Outdoor Educators with the planning, delivery and evaluation of outdoor and environmental education programs and helping with Forest School during May and June.
• Assisting with day camps in July and August as a day camp counsellor and lifeguard.
• Lifeguarding duties for camp during camp swimming time at Baxter’s waterfront.
• Acting as a resource person in the Interpretive Centre and assisting in delivering services to visitors such as selling park passes and monitoring for valid park passes.
• Assisting with cleaning and maintenance of our park trails and facilities.
Who you are
As the preferred candidate you:
• Are a mature post-secondary school student or recent graduate with experience working with school-aged children.
• Having experience delivering programs for school-aged children in an educational or recreational setting is an asset.
• Must have valid life guarding certification (NLS) and Standard First Aid and CPR at the time of hire.
• Must be able to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
What we offer
• Full time hours (35 hours per week) from the end of April to the end of August except the week of August 3rd to 7th, 2026, there will be no work this week as summer camp will not run be running.
• Hourly rate of $18.10
• Option to join the OMERS pension plan
• Free onsite parking
