Salary: $80,750-$95,000

CarePoint Health (CPH) is an integrated primary care hub consisting of a team of over 90 community affiliated physicians and allied health professionals working together to improve the health and wellness of the Mississauga communities.

CPH is also the Network Lead Organization for the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) Program in Brampton, Halton and Mississauga. OSP offers adults (18+) in Ontario free, short-term, evidence-based cognitive-behavioural therapy and related services for depression, anxiety, and anxiety-related conditions.
What is this role?
The Communications Manager is a member of the CPH management team and will lead the internal and external communication portfolio at CPH. The Communications Manager has responsibilities for leading key strategic communication initiatives including communication planning, brand development and management, social media management, content creation and community engagement. This role requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and strong organizational and collaborative skills.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Programs and Quality Improvement, key responsibilities include:
Strategic Communication Planning
• Establish and drive a multi-channel communications strategy for CPH inclusive of OSP and interprofessional primary care team portfolios.
• Develop and maintain a stakeholder engagement plan.
• Work closely with senior leadership to understand organizational objectives and translate them into communication plans.
• Ensure that all communication activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Content Creation:
• Oversee all external facing communications materials ensuring effective communication with senior leadership regarding strategic communications.
• Create engaging and informative content, including press releases, articles, blog posts, annual report and other content as needed.
• Maintain current and new internal and external communication vehicles, such as the website, SharePoint, and social media platforms with fresh and engaging content.
• Edit and proofread content on behalf of stakeholders to align with brand voice and tone.
• Manage creation and selection of photography and videos for print and electronic communications.
• Ensure all communication materials adhere to the organization’s branding guidelines.
Social Media Management
• Oversee the organization’s presence on social media platforms, ensuring that content is relevant, timely, and aligns with organizational goals.
• Monitor social media channels for mentions, trends, and public sentiment related to the health organization.
• Develop a brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms.
Management
• Lead and manage the communications team which may include direct and indirect reports
• Coach team members to enhance overall communication skill
• Oversees communication administrative tasks such as maintaining the editorial and social media calendar, preparing reports, tracking analytics, maintaining distribution lists and other operational tasks.
• Manage relationships and direct the work of communication vendors (e.g., writers, graphic designers, photographers, printer etc.)
• Identify when external vendors may be required and work with Senior Director to procure vendors.
Collaboration and Community Engagement
• Collaborate organizational leaders and team members to gather information and ensure accurate representation in communication materials.
• Collaborate and consult with partners and stakeholders to ensure communication materials are responsive to partner and community needs.
• Plan and execute community engagement activities relating to the promotion of CarePoint Health services and programs in the community.
Measurement and Evaluation
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies.
• Regularly evaluate and report on the success of communication initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
Key Qualifications:
• Undergraduate Degree and/or Post Graduate Certificate in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years practical and related communications experience. Preference for experience in healthcare.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Attention to detail. Ability to edit and proof-read various materials for clarity and typos.
• Advanced Microsoft Office Skills such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Tech savvy and with experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Google Analytics, YouTube, Constant Contact, Microsoft Teams, WordPress, SharePoint, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in working with communication vendors to achieve deliverables.
• Demonstrated experience in leading development and implementation of communication strategies.
• Demonstrated interest and aptitude towards website maintenance, videography, graphic design and print production.
• Ability to establish solid working relationships with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while remaining flexible to organizational needs.
• Strong tactical and critical thinking skills.
• A passion for words and a desire to grow and learn.
• Maintains professionalism and represents the organization with care.
