Clothing Buyer Full Time

EXILE is looking for an experienced senior Clothing Buyer to join the team. Our goal is to provide our customers with reliable and well-made quality of clothing, with pieces of historical or cultural significance and authenticity, to wide audiences from neighbourhood children to enthusiasts and collectors, alike.

Title: Clothing Buyer
Terms: Full-Time, Permanent, 30+ hours per week
Wage: $36.00 per hour

Duties:
Select and purchase vintage clothes at suppliers’ warehouses;
Communicate, establish and maintain contact with suppliers;
Date and accurately identify clothing eras, vintage clothes, and price vintage clothes for resale;
Identify vintage textiles and grade quality of fabrics and findings (metal zippers/buttons/findings);
Review requirements of the store and the clientele, and determine quantity and type of vintage clothes to purchase;
Arrange vintage clothes display in the store;
Provide customer services including individual customers as well as domestic or international buyers;
Study and analyze vintage clothing market trends and competitors;
Suggest new fashion styles;
Purchase vintage and antique books, accessories, stuffed animals, and furniture when necessary;
May supervise the staff;
Maintain adequate stock levels;
Negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms and transportation arrangements with suppliers;
Oversee distribution of merchandise to outlets;
Review requirements of establishment and determine quantity and type of merchandise to purchase;
Visit trade shows, showrooms, factories and product design events;

Buying
Must be able to identify vintage and antique of clothing, books, accessories, and stuffed animals from Victorian to the 1990s
Must have knowledge of vintage trends and clothing brands and be able to differentiate vintage from new items
Merchandise needs analysis
Market analysis via trade periodicals and resale websites
Product selection must be able to curate by era
Negotiation
Pricing, researching current market values on via resale websites and competitors
Completion of a post-secondary school or equivalent
3+ year real work experience
Dependability, independent and accountable to work alone or away from supervision
Accurate with work,
Punctuality is crucial.
Have prior training in the industry
