About the Role
A family in Victoria, British Columbia is seeking a full-time Child Care Provider / Nanny to provide care for two school-age children (ages 8 and 11) in the family home. This is a permanent position. A live-in arrangement with a private furnished bedroom and bathroom is available at no cost.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily Care and Safety
• Take responsibility for the children’s daily welfare — keeping them safe, actively supervised, and well supported throughout each day
• Guide the children through their morning and evening routines, including personal hygiene, dressing, and getting ready for school
• Apply consistent, respectful guidance and age-appropriate boundaries in line with the family’s values and parenting approach
• Remain comfortable and calm sharing the home with a medium-sized family dog
Activities and Learning
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities — outdoor outings, creative and art projects, reading, and games that build social and thinking skills
• Help the children stay on track with homework and school assignments
• Support the children’s emotional well-being — listen to them, encourage their confidence, and help them work through everyday challenges
Meals
• Prepare and serve balanced, nutritious meals and snacks for the children throughout the day
• Clean up the kitchen after the children’s meals — wiping surfaces and washing dishes used during childcare
Tidying
• Tidy the children’s bedrooms, playroom, and areas used by the children during the day
• Wash, dry, fold, and put away the children’s clothing and bedding
Transport
• Accompany and escort the children to and from school each day using public transit or walking
• Accompany the children to extracurricular activities, playdates, and appointments using public transit or other agreed transport
Communication
• Keep brief daily notes on the children’s activities, meals, moods, and any health observations
• Communicate openly and regularly with parents about how the children are doing
Qualifications:
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of verifiable hands-on childcare experience — references required
• Strong English communication skills, spoken and written
• Genuine warmth, patience, and reliability with school-age children
• Comfortable sharing a home with a medium-sized family dog
• Valid Canadian work authorization
• Ability to pass a criminal background check prior to start
• First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to complete before start date
Preferred
• Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate or equivalent childcare training
• Previous experience with school-age children specifically
Compensation and Benefits:
• $21.00 per hour
• 30–40 hours per week — exact schedule confirmed with successful candidate
