Wescor Contracting Ltd. is seeking Carpenters to join its team on active construction projects. This role is suited for skilled tradespeople involved in commercial interior construction, including wall and ceiling systems. The position focuses on working from drawings and specifications while contributing to efficient project execution and collaborating with site crews in accordance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review project drawings and specifications to understand scope, dimensions, and installation requirements
• Prepare layouts in accordance with project plans and applicable building codes
• Cut, shape, and assemble materials such as wood and light-gauge steel for framing and structural support
• construct, install, maintain, and repair structures and components made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
• Install various finish elements such as doors, frames, trim, and hardware as required by the project
• Carry out modifications, repairs, and adjustments to ensure proper fit and alignment of installed components
• Maintain quality workmanship by verifying that installations meet project specifications and company standards
• Follow all site safety procedures and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements
• Keep tools, equipment, and work areas organized and in safe working condition
• Work closely with supervisors and other trades to support efficient project execution
• Provide guidance or assistance to apprentices and less experienced crew members when needed
Position Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school
• Completion of a recognized 3–4 year carpentry apprenticeship program or more than four years of hands-on experience in the trade combined with relevant training or coursework
• Knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and construction methods related to interior wall and ceiling systems
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and layouts
• Familiarity with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry
• Trade certification as a Carpenter is considered an asset
• Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement is considered an asset
