Many Little Houses is seeking Full Time, Part Time, Casual/Relief Care Support Workers who are reliable and compassionate with caring for families in need of interventions aimed at risk reduction and family strengthening in a safe and supportive home environment setting.
Purpose:
Many Little Houses preserves, unifies and advocates for Indigenous families by supporting healing and fostering resilience through culturally rooted programs, services and collaboration with community partners.
Job Duties:
• Actively participate in program service planning and ensure recommendations tailored to individual client needs and aimed at reducing risks and strengthening families.
• Collaborates with the parent/caregiver and social worker to create a service plan which includes developing goals and creating activities
• Assist in individualized rehabilitation programs and routines for each client, including
o Parenting skills development
o Housing
o Home maintenance
o Life skills
o Cultural Planning
o Connection to culture
o Self Care and Identity
o Communication skills and boundary setting
o Child Development Support
o School readiness
o Cultural learning and Identity nurturing for children and young people
• Monitor client schedules, including doctor’s appointments, exercise routines, medication schedules, recreation and family visits
• Aid with medication administration as needed.
• Assist clients with daily personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, toileting and with mobility or transfer as needed.
• Monitor program effectiveness to ensure activities are meeting client needs
• Document and report individual conditions and any behavioral changes.
• Support meal preparation, serving and feeding clients as needed.
• Transport and accompany clients to doctor’s appointments, recreation and cultural outreach activities as needed.
Requirements:
• Must be over the age of 18.
• Resume with 2 Character References
• Criminal record check, including vulnerable sector search – and – an intervention record check, both dated not earlier than 6 months prior to commencing work.
• First Aid/CPR training, including administering CPR to children, OPTIONAL at the time of hire, but MUST be completed within 3 months of commencing work with Many Little Houses.
• Proof of a valid driver’s license, car registration and car insurance for all staff members who will be transporting client(s).
