The Cabinetmaker Assistant/Apprentice is responsible to assist the Cabinetmaker in crafting and
assembling of cabinets and other architectural millwork to detailed specifications. He/she will
assist to produce quality millwork to specification The Cabinetmaker Assistant/Apprentice will be
responsible for knowing and practicing safe working methods and will learn to develop a strong
knowledge of shop practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, quality control, and safety
equipment. He/she will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy work area and
assisting other team members. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Requirements
Highschool Graduate
Enrollment in an approved Apprenticeship Program
Knowledge of carpentry, cabinetmaking an asset.
Post Secondary Education
CNC Programming Experience
Knowledge of safe operation of hand and power tools.
Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
Knowledge of First Aid and CPR an asset.
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
Time management skills.
Mathematical skills and analytical skills
Ability to work in a team environment with supervision.
