Automotive technician Full Time NEW

Under the authority of the service manager, the person in the position performs routine maintenance and repairs, is able to diagnose issues, and carry out repairs in several areas or in all areas. They may be specialized in specific repair fields.
 Carry out the work described on the repair order efficiently and accurately, according to dealer and manufacturer standards.
 Determine the cause of any malfunction (customer complaint or inspection) and perform the repair.
 Communicate with the parts department to get the necessary parts.
 Keep and label parts if the work is under warranty or if the customer requests it.
 Examine the assigned vehicle to determine if additional safety or maintenance work is needed.
 Inspect and road-test newly delivered vehicles to spot obvious damage or missing items and to assess driving functions.
 Alert the service advisor and/or foreman as soon as possible if additional work is required, if the described work is unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed on time
 Install the optional equipment requested by the customer or the dealer.  Report any defects or malfunctions of the equipment to your manager.  Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.  Participate in training programs and events sponsored by the manufacturer.  Stay informed about the manufacturer’s technical bulletins.  Ensure the cleanliness of customers’ cars. Notify the service advisor as soon as possible of any incident that may have affected the appearance or condition of a car.  Keep the workshop clean and organized.  Maintain all tools and manuals belonging to the company and be responsible for them; return them to the right place and in the same condition as when received.  Stay aware of federal, provincial, and municipal regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, understand them and follow them.
 Use all tools and equipment with care.  Report any safety issues to your immediate supervisor as soon as possible.  Perform other tasks as needed and as instructed by management.
