Assistant Quality Assurance Manager
Pizzey Ingredients, a flaxseed processing plant in Angusville, Manitoba, is seeking a full time Assistant Quality Assurance Manager. This is a permanent position.
Responsibilities:
• The Assistant Quality Assurance Manager (Assistant QA Manager) will be a key member of Pizzey Ingredients’ Food Safety Team and will assist the Quality Assurance Manager (QA Manager) in maintaining the quality standards of our processing plant, as well as testing of samples, documentation of procedures, and upkeep of all manuals pertaining to the operation of the processing plant.
• The Assistant QA Manager will assist the QA Manager and Director of Compliance in ensuring Pizzey Ingredients’ compliance with all regulatory food safety and quality requirements.
• The Assistant QA Manager will assist the QA Manager in the implementation and on-going program management/oversight of Pizzey Ingredients’ Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification. Such responsibilities shall include:
o Developing and executing food safety plans to achieve and maintain Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification and to meet all requirements related to food safety programs.
o Developing and maintaining systems to assure facility meets all food safety system requirements including commitment, document control and records, verification, product identification, trace and recall, incident management, building and equipment design, and pre-requisite programs.
• The Assistant QA Manager will assist the QA Manager with maintaining Pizzey Ingredients’ Kosher certification and Canadian Grain Sampling Program certification.
• The Assistant QA Manager will assist the Lab Manager in maintaining and operating the on-site lab, which is equipped with all systems necessary to monitor the quality of all ingredients shipped to customers. The Assistant QA Manager will also assist the Lab Manager and Chief Operating Officer with ongoing research and development projects.
• The Assistant QA Manager will also assist the Lab Manager with providing technical information, answers and help for customer-related technical issues regarding ingredient/finished product quality.
Requirements:
• Applicant must speak English, as all job duties must be performed in English.
• This is a 100% in person role. The applicant must live in the Angusville, Manitoba area or be willing to relocate.
• Must have at least a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in food science, biology, or microbiology.
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in food safety and quality in a food processing plant.
• Must have completed HACCP training.
• Must be competent to implement and maintain HACCP based food safety plans.
• Must have hands on experience implementing, managing, or applying at least one of the GFSI audit schemes, and either be an SQF Practitioner or be prepared to undertake SQF Practitioner training upon hiring.

Renumeration:
• Starting wage: $25/hour, with opportunity for pay increases at management discretion.
