You ensure food produced is safe, legal, and meets internal and regulatory standards. You lead audits, compliance work, documentation, training, and continuous improvement of food-safety systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and monitor food safety programs: HACCP, GMP, SSOPs, allergen controls, etc.
Conduct plant walk-throughs, routine inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Lead internal and supplier audits; prepare for third-party and regulatory audits
Investigate food-safety incidents, nonconformities, recalls, and corrective actions
Train staff on food-safety protocols, best practices, and compliance
Maintain documentation, records, logs, and compliance reporting
Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., CFIA) and customers
Support new product launches with food-safety input
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field
Prior experience in food-safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance in food manufacturing
Knowledge of food-safety standards (HACCP, GMP, BRC, ISO)
Strong auditing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
