We are currently looking for an experienced and committed designer who is outgoing and passionate about all aspects of interior design and decor to join our team. This position requires 1-2 years’ interior design experience, relevant education background in interior design or art related field, outstanding communication ability, good customer service skills, extensive attention to details and excellent organizational skills, etc. The ideal candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision and have a strong knowledge of home furnishings. To be a success in this position you will need to be mature, reliable, professional and capable of delivering creative design ideas.

Salary: CAD$ 24.5 per hour

Main duties and responsibilities:
Meet and consult with clients to develop a full understanding of their needs, preferences, specific requirements and purpose of space
Conduct site inspection and field measurement to gather accurate information necessary for design
Develop design concepts which are feasible, practical, aesthetical, safe and conducive to intended function and purposes based on clients’ needs and requirements
Develop drawings through AutoCAD from concepts to preliminary space plans
Produce detailed design drawings, including floor plans, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, power and communication plans, interior elevations, cross sections and details, etc. by using CAD, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and CorelDRAW
Develop 3-D renderings by the use of 3D graphics software like Sketchup, Maya and Lumion showing arrangement of walls, dividers, displays, lighting and other fixtures
Prepare design drawings and specifications for kitchen cabinets and components
Prepare presentations for internal and external meetings, clearly communicating design ideas and specifications
Participate in the execution of projects in all phases including documentation, budgeting, scheduling, construction, material selection, furnishing, etc.
Provide clients with professional advice on selection of colours, finishes and materials, flooring, wall coverings, lighting, furniture, artwork and etc.
Maintain a positive relationship with clients, keep clients apprised of project progress on regular basis, effectively communicate and negotiate about critical issues throughout the project
Review construction drawings to ensure conformity with established designs and provide modification suggestions when necessary
Attend on-site visits and field reviews to ensure the smooth implementation of designs and compliance with relevant building code and construction regulations
Coordinate and/or undertake site deficiency review and installation inspections
Bachelor degree or college diploma in Interior Design or related field from a recognized institution
Minimum 1-2 years’ experience as an interior designer or in related field
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDRAW, Sketch Up, Maya, Lumion and all Microsoft office applications
Knowledge of Ontario Building Code
Knowledge of the mechanical processes of woodworking via CNC, Edgebander, etc.
Knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques
Having a vehicle is a necessity as travel to client homes/job site is required
Excellent communication and customer relation skills
Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
Excellent presentation skills to communicate ideas
Ability to learn and reference multiple product lines
Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
Ability to identify and solve problems with creative solutions
Ability to build lasting relationships with clients, suppliers, staff and contractors.
