The Manager, Welding Engineering oversees all welding engineering activities in support of vessel construction activities at Vancouver Shipyards (VSY). This includes Joint Support Ship for Royal Canadian Navy, future Coast Guard vessels including Polar Icebreaker new build work. The role of Manager, Welding Engineering requires significant internal (welding/steel trade manager, stage of construction managers, and project managers) and external (regulatory bodies, applicable statutory agencies, and customers) communication. The position also requires benchmarking standard methodologies and ensures that desired weld procedures are certified, and the most productive processes and technologies are employed in production to meet quality requirements and labour hours targets. This role is one of a production productivity and operational continuous improvement focus. It will lead the Welding Engineering team in lockstep support of operational performance needs in the shipyard. In addition, this role will support the Welding Centre of Excellence (COE) activities to improve productivity and quality. The Manager, Welding Engineering directly reports to Sr. Manager, Welding Engineering and Welding Quality for Seaspan Shipyards
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, BC.

The estimated salary for this position is $121,500-$148,500. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
