The Role’s Opportunity:
This position functions as both a coach and mentor for the extensive Community Generosity team. Collaborating closely with the Community Generosity leadership team, this individual plays a vital role in providing support and strategic guidance to enhance the effectiveness of the department. A major focus of this role is to inspire and promote innovative giving options tailored for donors and their advisors. This ensures that donors are positioned to make transformational gifts that benefit the community.
Core Areas of Responsibility:
Donor Identification and Engagement
Identify prospective donors in community to engage in the strategic funding priorities programs.
Utilize donor engagement expertise to develop generosity planning strategies for donors and prospective donors.
Manage portfolio of high-net-worth donors
Collaborate with Donor Advised Fundholders to determine annual giving priorities
Family Philanthropy
Collaborate with (often multi-generations of) families who have Donor Advised Funds ensuring their generosity plans are implemented while maintaining sensitivity of family dynamics and managing various viewpoints.
Develop and implement philanthropic values workshops and establishing family generosity charters
Champion Manitoba-based projects where possible and if necessary, connect giving to community foundations in other provinces.
Corporate Engagement
Execute a robust corporate engagement strategy to attract and retain key partners to The Winnipeg Foundation or the larger local charitable community.
Generate new leads, cultivate new relationships, and assess the alignment of The Foundation’s vision and strategic plan goals with each partner’s business and social responsibility goals.
Collaborate with the Community Impact team to match community needs with donor priorities, with special attention to the Community Grants intake, Major/Capital Grants intake, and priorities defined by equity-led organizations in community.
About You:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree related to fundraising, or non-profit management (or other relevant education)
CFRE designation
5-7 years of experience working in a fundraising or donor engagement environment with a strong background in working with sophisticated / high net worth donors, leadership and donor management
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of regulations and ethical practices to ensure all activities are compliant with laws and ethical standards
Strong networking skills to build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community members
Proven accuracy and attention to detail, even when working on multiple portfolios for multiple projects with tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills, written and verbal; ability to present data and its implications in a clear, concise manner.
Strong research and analytical mindset and extremely detail-oriented
Self-motivated, energetic, “can-do” attitude in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage priorities across multiple stakeholders
What We Offer:
Starting salary in the range of $76,045 to $89,353
