The Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s provincial office operates on the traditional and unceded territories of the šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ təməxʷ (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ (Tsleil-Waututh). The Alzheimer Society of B.C. provides services across the traditional, unceded territories of Indigenous peoples around the province.
There are approximately 85,000 British Columbians living with dementia, and this number is growing. For every person living with dementia, there are many more people affected, including family, friends, co-workers and other members of their communities. Through the delivery of programs and services, the Alzheimer Society of B.C. strives to change the conversation about dementia, the experience of people affected by dementia, and the future for people affected by dementia.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Engagement, the Manager, Health-Care Provider Education Delivery is responsible for the U-First! program. U-First! is a training program that helps health-care providers develop a common knowledge base, language, values and approach to caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive impairment by understanding the person and associated behaviour changes and working as a team to develop individualized support strategies. Responsibilities include building a new team and putting in place all procedures and processes to ensure the Alzheimer Society of B.C. can achieve the learner goals associated with the U-First! program. Once operationalized, this role is also responsible for the ongoing management, evaluation and promotion, as it relates to health-care provider education delivery.
This is an incredible opportunity for a collaborative leader with extensive experience in program management and team development, particularly within the context of education and health care. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in a related field such as Gerontology, Adult Education or Public Health combined with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in a related capacity and discipline, preferably in a not-for-profit environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The salary for this position is $82,000 – $100,000 and includes access to a wide range of employee benefits including a flexible hybrid work environment, generous paid time off, and comprehensive employee health benefits. Please note, this is a 3-year contract with possibility of extension.
