Responsibilities
As a Inspector Waterworks Construction, you will be responsible for:
Barge Operations and Marine Activities:
• Observing barge operations for marine dredging, trenching, and excavation projects, including bathymetric surveys.
• Witnessing dredging and excavation activities to ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Inspection and Testing:
• Conducting advanced visual inspections to ensure adherence to engineering plans, safety regulations, and project specifications.
• Witnessing and performing NDT techniques, including liquid penetrant, radiographic, magnetic particle, and ultrasonic testing.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Inspecting and maintaining marine equipment safety logs, including barge operations in dynamic water environments and during bathymetric surveys.
• Managing project documentation, including RFIs, shop drawings, and detailed inspection reports.
Coordination and Collaboration:
• Collaborating with contractors, consultants, and clients to meet project goals and maintain effective communication.
• Coordinating the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and SCADA systems.
Training and Leadership:
• Training and mentoring junior team members to uphold high safety and operational standards during barge and open water activities.
By taking ownership of these key responsibilities, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, precision, and success of our marine and construction projects.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following qualifications:
Experience and Skills:
A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in:
• Barge operations, dredging, trenching, and excavation on large bodies of open navigable water.
• Conducting advanced visual inspections in marine and construction environments.
• Leading teams in marine projects, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Proficiency in managing marine equipment safety logs and conducting bathymetric surveys.
• Strong knowledge of bathymetric survey techniques, including equipment setup, data collection, and analysis for marine project.
• Comprehensive understanding of construction principles, safety codes, and environmental compliance in significant marine settings.
• Ability to work effectively in challenging open water environments, including on barges.
Credentials:
• Non-destructive Testing Certificate (preferred but not mandatory).
Transportation/Travel:
• A valid driver’s license is preferred (ability to rely on intercity transit systems is acceptable).
Physical Capabilities:
• Physically capable of extended work on open water, including barges.
• Comfortable working in wet/damp environments and performing manual tasks.
Tools and Equipment:
• Must have personal safety equipment, including steel-toed boots and a hard hat.
