The Water and Sewer Technician, reporting to the Building Infrastructure Supervisor, is a key member of the contract team at a historical remote location in the Canadian Arctic. In this role, you are responsible for the operation and maintenance of potable water and sewage treatment systems. An 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off rotational schedule with flights to and from the worksite in Nunavut leaving from Montreal, Quebec.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Operate and maintain potable water systems including sump pumps, filtering system, chlorine injection system and the pump monitoring system.
Operate and maintain water treatment plant, performing leak surveys on distribution system, testing water quality, collecting and analyzing samples for bacteriological analysis.
Inspect, monitor, operate, maintain and repair the sanitary collection systems and sewage treatment systems including cleaning and flushing collection systems and monitoring effluent and storm characteristics.
Perform critical maintenance following system failures.
Implement scheduled preventive maintenance program for water and sewage systems.
Support and participate in corporate and contract health, safety and environment programs, policies and procedures.
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a water treatment plant in commercial or industrial setting.
Hold a recognized and valid Level II water treatment certification.
Ability to obtain fit-for-duty medical assessment from a physician.
Strong planning, organization and execution skills.
Experience working in remote locations is an asset.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Possess strong ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships, with the flexibility and ability to work independently with minimum supervision and within a team environment.
Inuit cultural awareness, knowledge and respect.
Flexibility to meet the unique requirements of the site including potential rotational shift changes and working after hours “on-call” duties.
