The Front of House (FOH) Supervisor will collaborate closely with the Chef Manager and the Iron City Fishing Club Commissary Committee throughout the season to ensure compliance with dining hall standards and to effectively train the wait staff in their roles. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, guidance, and communication skills, particularly in engaging with a younger team. The wait staff primarily consists of teenagers, who are the children of the Iron City Fishing Club members.
This is a short-term contract between June-August, requiring the individual to remain at the lodge for the full duration. All travel, accommodations, meals, snacks and beverages are provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the training, development and supervision of the wait staff on dining hall standards and providing ongoing mentorship throughout the season
Daily setup of the dining hall for each meal service, which encompasses arranging table settings, preparing the salad bar, establishing hot and cold beverage stations, assisting with kitchen preparations related to front-of-house operations (such as salads and sundaes)
Ensuring member satisfaction, and processing requisitions for items such as birthday cakes, picnics, and catering
Adhering to all food safety standards, ensuring proper handling, storage, and sanitation of ingredients and equipment
Additional responsibilities include expediting meals, managing weekly ordering and inventory, and providing assistance in the kitchen as needed
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Demonstrated strength in leadership, guidance and communication skills, particularly in engaging with a younger team
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the food service industry
Valid Food Safety certification is required
Production experience preparing menu items in large volumes
Ability and desire to work independently with minimal supervision, and as a team player
Experience with inventory management and weekly food ordering
Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe software
Ability to effectively handle the concerns of employees, customers, and clients with tact while adhering to confidentiality policies
Experience and knowledge of inventory management and weekly food ordering
Passion for the outdoors with the ability to commit to the full duration of the work term while remaining at the lodge for the full duration
Ability to successfully complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) level 3
