Role: Commercial Kitchen Cleaning Specialist (NOC 65311)
Salary: $19.00 – $30.00 /hour and Benefits (Extended Health, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance)+ may be eligible for bonuses and salary increases, if applicable
Hours: 40 hours/week, (overtime applies after 40 hours), Permanent
Location of work: Aritzia Support Office (#118-611 Alexander St. Vancouver, BC, V6A 1E1)

As a member of the Facilities Department, you will be part of the team responsible for maintaining and enhancing our world class Commissary. As the Commercial Kitchen Cleaning Specialist, you will support in maintaining an Everyday Luxury feel and experience in our space by performing specialized facility cleaning, sanitization and maintenance across the front and back of house within the Commissary.
1. BACK OF HOUSE SPECIALIZED CLEANING, SANITIZATION & MAINTENANCE
To execute on cleaning & maintenance tasks that elevate the space experience using specialized equipment or tools when necessary – Monday to Friday.
A. Halton MARVEL Kitchen Exhaust System
• Run the water washdown utilizing the Halton Control Panel
• Check the control panel for any errors and action them if found
• Replace all filters insuring all contact censors are in correct position
• Utilize the control panel to insure it is operating at the correct CFM
B. Grill/Broiler
• Complete disassembly, and deep clean
• Insure pilot light operation
• Gas Regulator – clean gas regulator and connection point
• Quick disconnect – clean hose and connection point.
• Check all pilot lights are operating, correctly and holding flame
C. Flat Top Griddle
• Ensure unit is completely shut off.
• Complete disassembly and deep clean
• Check all pilot lights are operating, correctly and holding flame
D. Induction Cook Top
• Ensure unit is completely shut off.
• Using a nonabrasive pad scrub the cook top surface clean.
• Clean and sanitize the elements, stainless around them and control knobs.
• Polish the elements, the stainless around them and control knobs.
E. French Tops
• Ensure unit is completely shut off
• Remove all carbon from the cooking surface with a scouring pad
• Clean and sanitize the elements, stainless around them and control knobs.
• Check all pilot lights are operating, correctly holding flame
F. Deep Fryers
• Ensure units are completely shut off
• Scrub clean with water and food safe soap
• Drain and polish with microfibre cloth
• Check pilot light operation
• Carefully clean all internal components
G. Ice Machine
• Move all ice into ice bins
• Remove all ice trays and wash with soap and warm water, rinse, air dry
• Wash ice basin with soap and warm water, rinse with clean water, sanitize
• Check water filter
• Replace ice
• Insure filter is not leaking
• Insure back flow is in correct position
H. Pizza Oven
• Forno Deck should be fully cooled
• Brush clear of all soot and debris
• Pilot Lights should be cleaned so all orifices are clear for gas flow
I. Cook & Hold Ovens
• Remove oven probe, carefully clean and sanitize and replace
• Clean completely the exterior and interior of the oven
J. Walk-in Freezer & Refrigerator
• Clean Evaporator Coil Fins
• Check Fan Operation
• Gasket Inspection – Certify Integrity
• Insure condensate drain lines are not plugged
• Complete cleaning of the interior of the cabinet
K. Line Fridges, Freezer
• Clean Evaporator Coil Fins
• Check Fan Operation
• Gasket Inspection – Certify Integrity
• Insure condensate drain lines are not plugged
• Mechanical Hardware (Slides, Rivets, Hinges) – check integrity of construction.
L. Dishwasher, Glasswasher
• Remove removable parts (e.g. glasswasher wash curtains)
• Clean wash arms; remove debris from spray nozzles
• Remove and clean filters
• Clean wash tank
• Check chemical dispensers are full
• Check chemical draw lines are pulling into the machine
M. Rational Ovens
• Initiate cleaning cycle in the oven’s digital menu
• Utilize cleaning pods to insure full sanitization
N. Convection Ovens
• Allow oven to cool completely
• Use a brush to remove any debris
• Apply oven cleaning solution and allow to sit for 10 minutes
• Wipe away all cleaning solution, wash with soap and warm water, rinse and allow to dry
2. FRONT OF HOUSE FURNITURE, FIXTURES & EQUIPMENT
To execute on all specialized and day-to-day cleaning and sanitization tasks throughout the space, creating a safe and comfortable experience for our people, clients, and communities
a) Rehydrate, condition and shampoo all leather on banquettes
b) Apply maintenance emulsion care for finish of all Walnut and White Oak millwork
c) Ensure all light fixtures are cleaned, and dead bulbs are replaced
d) Maintain all brass inlay with BRASSO
e) Scrub & Polish all front of house polished concrete flooring utilizing auto scrubber
f) Clean & maintain finish on all eating tables & chairs
g) Clean & maintain finish on all marble countertops
3. PROGRAMMED MAINTENANCE & REACTIVE REPAIR SUPPORT
To support with routine inspection and maintenance activities while addressing deficiencies when possible
a) Programmed Maintenance – Support with the ongoing maintenance activities throughout the space(ex. Plant maintenance including running & monitoring the irrigation system, laundry services, waste and recycling removal)
b) Reactive Repair – When possible, support with minor in store repairs to return the element to original functionality (ex. Replacing light bulbs, minor plumbing issues, minor equipment repair)
4. SUPPLIES MANAGEMENT
To ensure the space is always stocked with required cleaning supplies and tools
a) Cleaning Tools – Ensure the space has all required cleaning tools for the space, that they are well maintained and in good condition, and replaced when required
b) Cleaning Chemicals – Ensure the space has all required cleaning chemicals for the space and that replenishment needs are communicated when stocks are low
c) PPE – Ensure the space has all required cleaning PPE and that replenishment needs are communicated when stocks are low
Throughout the course of employment, additional duties and responsibilities may be amended as required.
The Commercial Kitchen Cleaning Specialist will possess the following qualifications:
• Experience & knowledge of working with, maintaining, and cleaning commercial kitchen equipment such as:
o Halton MARVEL Kitchen Exhaust System
o Grill/Broilers
o Flat Top Griddles
o Induction Cook Tops
o French Tops
o Deep Fryers
o Ice Machines
o Pizza Ovens
o Cook & Hold Ovens

o Convection Ovens
• Experience caring for custom millwork, metal, and fabric finishes of all types including leather
• Proven skills, education, and/or applicable certifications in the below and the appetite to continuously learn and develop oneself
o Knowledge of cleaning chemicals & supplies and associated safety standards WHMIS (CAN) or OHSA HAZCOM (USA) certification preferred)
o Knowledge of best practices to properly clean, maintain and report on condition of commercial kitchen equipment
o Physically able to complete tasks that involve lifting and comfortable using a ladder
o Comfortable utilizing walk-behind floor auto scrubber machine
