Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for driving the long-term success and sustainable growth of the corporation. The CEO provides visionary leadership to enhance the value of SEDC, ensuring a positive impact on the Tkemlúps te Secwépemc economy and future generations. The CEO will champion a culture of innovation, excellence, and ethical conduct, ensuring the implementation and achievement of strategic objectives and key performance indicators.
Leadership:
· Set the vision, mission, values, short and long-term strategic plans, and annual business plan.
· Provide leadership to the organization to advance the vision, mission and mandate of the organization.
· Provide leadership and vision to manage the group in the interests of the legal and beneficial shareholders.
· Lead the growth of the corporation in a profitable and sustainable manner through appropriate management of human resources, capitalizing on assets, and innovation.
· Provide leadership to a diverse team that fosters a workplace culture focused on professionalism, integrity, commitment, respect, collaboration and teamwork.
· Identify, develop, and mentor future leaders within the organization.
Corporate Governance:
· Maintain open and effective communication with the Board of Directors.
· Assist the Board in complying with their fudiciary responsibilities and obligations.
· Ensure that an effective senior management team is in place and that effective succession plans are established.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
· Collaborate with the Board and staff to develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy that positions SEDC for long-term success.
· Ensure the development and implementation of appropriate corporate strategic plans to maximize shareholder value.
· Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress towards strategic objectives and identify areas for improvement.
· Provide regular updates to the Board of Directors on the progress of strategic plan implementation, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
Business Financial & Risk Management:
· Establish operational excellence by setting quality and profit improvement goals to drive continuous improvement and maximize performance.
· Create robust financial plans and strategies to safeguard the company’s long-term viability.
· Review and analyze financial performance metrics on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
· Establish and maintain robust risk management systems to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats to the company’s operations.
Health and Safety Excellence:
· Foster a culture of safety excellence with execution and accountability for all safety activities.
· Ensure that health and safety initiatives are integrated into the company’s overall strategic goals and objectives, ensuring that safety is a core component of all projects and operations.
Community Contribution:
· Promote a strong commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
· Provide value as a contributing corporate citizen to the communities in which SEDC operates.
· Communicate the corporation’s value to shareholders, demonstrating how it fulfills its vision, mission, and values.
· Build on SEDC’s mission of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ensuring these pillars are reflected in the organization’s work.
Education/Professional Qualifications
Required
· Bacclaureate degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
· 10+ years’ experience as a CEO and/or Executive level position, leading a complex organization, ideally in the resource sector (eg. mining, forestry, or construction services).
Preferred
· MBA in Business or related program.
· Experience leading large organizational, operational, or systems change initiatives.
A combination of education, skills and experience may be considered.
