Our accounting firm is now seeking a full-time bookkeeper/staff accountant. This position includes record keeping: payroll; government reporting and remittances; bank and other reconciliations: accounts payable; and tax slip, tax return, client file working paper and WCB preparation. Experience with Sage 50 and Microsoft Office are required.
Our office provides a variety of services to a diverse clientele. The successful candidate must have strong communication and client service skills, the ability to multi-task with accuracy in a fast-paced environment, and a minimum of three years’ experience.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
· Apply manual and computerized bookkeeping systems to record and balance day to day financial transactions
· Monitor cashflow and produce financial and accounting reports for multiple clients and entities
· Send payments, execute payrolls, and prepare bank deposits
· Maintaining accounts by posting, verifying, and allocating transactions
· Complete compilation engagements, including preparation of corporate tax returns and financial statements
· Perform analysis of more straightforward accounting and tax issues
· Complete and submit government documents such as tax remittance forms, workers’ compensation forms, and pension contribution forms
· Be an integral part in the successful execution of our tax busy season. Responsibilities will include compensation planning for clients and related planning for the preparation of T4 and TS information returns, and the preparation of personal income tax returns and trust returns
· Responsible for the timely conduct of client engagements and projects
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients
Position Requirements:
· Diploma/Certificate in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or a combination of some related courses in accounting/bookkeeping
· Atleast 1 year of related experience as a bookkeeper or tax professional
· Experience with Sage 50, Quickbooks and Microsoft Office is required
