About the role
Join the corporate insurance team in the Specialist, Corporate Insurance position. In this role, you will provide expert management and administration of CMHC’s corporate insurance program (property and casualty). You will also provide advice and support to internal clients on a range of matters relating to risk management through insurance coverage to ensure CMHC is protected against risks related to its operational activities.
This is a temporary position of a duration of 12 months.
What you’ll do:
Provide expert advice to CMHC internal clients regarding insurance coverage, insurance policy interpretation, event and occurrence reporting, risk awareness and risk mitigation measures, claims investigation and payment, underwriting data requirements, and the interpretation and application of insurance policies with respect to CMHC programs and matters.
Manage financial planning and analysis with respect to the corporate insurance program.
Effectively and strategically manage the corporate insurance program.
Ensure that adequate insurance coverage is obtained and maintained, including through appropriate tracking and reporting (e.g., quarterly consolidated reporting of all changes to CMHC insured assets).
Effectively and efficiently manage insurance claims, by providing direction and expert advice to the insurance adjuster and/or internal clients on the assessment of a claim, its management and, where applicable, its settlement.
Track and report on claim outcomes for internal insurance coverage analysis purposes.
Develop logical, well-reasoned and cost-effective solutions to problems identified by clients related to the identification and analysis of risk, the interpretation of insurance coverage and potential claims situations.
What you should have:
An undergraduate degree in Finance, Business or another related field.
A minimum of five years of experience with corporate insurance programs.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
In-depth knowledge of the commercial insurance industry related to the procurement of insurance policies, the administration of an insurance program, and a sound grasp of insurance terminology and concepts.
Strong interpersonal skills, analytical, problem-solving, investigative, and decision-making skills.
Bilingualism (English and French).
It would be great if you also had:
A Risk Management Certification or Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
