Tilesetter Full Time

Company Profile:

Located in Pitt Meadows, Lower Mainland, Alaska Construction Ltd. serves residential and commercial clients in multiple locations across Metro Vancouver. Having focused on quality and customer service, we are seeking a competent and capable Tile installer to join our team. Priority is an individual with a few years’ experience in tile-laying who is intent on contributing to the business goals.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

We are looking to expand our team with a permanent full-time professional tilesetter, responsible for:

• Prepare and mark the surface to be covered based on the requirement measurement
• Install anchor bolts, wires and brackets, and tile strips to build proper underbeds
• Cut, polish, and install marble and granite
• Mix adhesive substances such as mortar, cement, mastic, or glue to apply and spread on the surface
• Properly lay tiles in position and apply pressure to base-pin the tiles
• Apply straightening tools such as levels, squares and straightedges to lay tiles properly aligned
• Cut and appropriately joint tiles around curbs and openings
• Properly use hand trowel as well as hand and power cutting tools
• Fill in joints between tiles with grout and remove excess grout
• Create decorative wall, mural and floor designs using mosaic tiles
• Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces and remove cracked or damaged tiles
• Estimates costs and orders in the required situation

Employment Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school
• Minimum 2-3 years tile installing experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training program
• Performing tile laying in home developments, large renovation or restoration projects
• Physical capabilities: Able to manage heavy loads upon 50 pounds, bending, crouching, and kneeling
