Student Wellness is a key portfolio within Student Services that holds responsibility for promoting and supporting the health and well-being of all students at UVic. Inclusive of both the Student Wellness Centre and Multifaith Centre, the Student Wellness portfolio strives to provide a dynamic wrap-around approach to student well-being that encompasses student mental health; spiritual health, physical health, and wellness strategies, programs, and services; health-related policies; incident response mechanisms; and special projects and initiatives, creating a learning environment that supports all students’ capacity to engage, develop, and thrive throughout their post-secondary experience at UVic. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Associate Director, Clinical Health Program, the Physician Lead is the liaison between the Student Wellness Centre (SWC) physicians and the leadership team. In addition to the responsibilities of a Physician, the Physician Lead provides clinical supervision and consultation regarding medical questions and management of student-patients for the physician group and supports ongoing development, implementation, and review of clinical improvements. The Physician Lead brings a lens of integrated programs and services to support an exceptional student experience grounded in principles and practices promoting safe access, and holistic support, with equitable outcomes in health and wellness.
The Physician Lead will be an engaged, and proactive healthcare practitioner with a deep commitment to holistic, community health services. The Director will have over three (3) years of clinical experience successfully with the ability to inspire collaboration while meeting the evolving and diverse needs of the university community. The successful candidate will possess a medical degree and eligibility for a practice license and membership with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Eligibility for professional malpractice liability protection with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is required.
