EntrepreNorth is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Policy Lead to help advance research, advocacy, and systems change work that strengthens Indigenous entrepreneurship and community well-being across Northern Canada. In this role, you’ll guide the development of EntrepreNorth’s Policy Circle – a network of Northern Indigenous entrepreneurs who work with partners, governments, and allies to shape policy and support economic innovation in the North.
You’ll lead policy engagement, coordinate research, and produce clear, evidence-based recommendations that address systemic barriers and create opportunities for Indigenous business growth. You’ll also support the development of new partnerships and funding to grow research and advocacy initiatives.
A big part of this role involves relationship-building. You’ll collaborate with Indigenous governments, community leaders, and regional and national policy partners; host roundtables and convenings; and ensure that Northern Indigenous perspectives are reflected in all policy recommendations. You’ll also help build policy and advocacy capacity among entrepreneurs and partners in the ecosystem.
On the operations side, you’ll manage systems for tracking policy impact, support CRA compliance related to public policy activities, and assist with expense reporting, honoraria, and contracts connected to research and engagement work.
We’re looking for someone who builds strong relationships, communicates clearly, and can turn complex research into accessible insights. You’re organized, self-motivated, and values-driven, with a commitment to Indigenous self-determination and community-led systems change.
You bring a degree or diploma in public policy, Indigenous studies, political science, economics, or a related field, along with 2–4 years of experience in policy development, research, or analysis. You have experience working with Indigenous communities and understand Northern business realities. Strong communication skills, discretion with sensitive information, and comfort managing multiple deadlines will be essential.
Bonus experience includes policy advocacy, Indigenous economic development, community-based research methods, facilitation, government relations, or proposal development.
EntrepreNorth offers a competitive salary, comprehensive employer-paid benefits starting day one, annual RRSP contributions, a cost-of-living adjustment, a $1500 professional development budget, flexible and remote work options, opportunities for Northern travel, 10 sick/personal days, three weeks of vacation, and a winter office closure—along with a supportive and creative team environment.
