Revy Outdoors is an independent specialty outdoor retailer specializing in camping, hiking, backpacking, climbing, mountaineering and skiing in the summer. We are looking to further our success by creating our own line of lightweight, nutritious, high calorie, and above all else, great tasting freeze dried meals. These meals need to yield better than average margins and value pricing for the customer, while tasting much better than current offerings on the market.
The ideal candidate would have professional chef experience and proven experience translating that into non-restaurant products. This is a full-time, two-year contract position that works closely with the owner. This position will require some after-hours and weekend work.
Location of Work: 201 MacKenzie Avenue, Revelstoke, BC
Duties
1. To work with owner to develop to develop an assortment of freeze-dried meals.
2. To manage product development from inputs to finish.
3. To ensure all government regulations and quality standards are met.
4. To help develop and execute marketing for the product.
5. To help ensure retail operations maximize sales.
Skills
– Language of work: Strong English language communication, written and oral
– Detailed understanding of food nutrition for outdoor activities
– Proven ability to develop new products that would appeal to outdoor enthusiasts
– Proven ability to manage input elements to a finished product ready for market
– Competency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dropbox
Education & Experience
– Professional cheffing diploma
– Minimum 3 years’ experience as a professional chef
– Experience managing food services budget to 70% gross margins
– Experience with menu creation and nutrition
– Experience with freeze-dried food processes
– Ability to create a superior freeze-dried food product
Compensation & Benefits
– $26 per hour with 40 hours per week
-Commission pay of 5% of product sales
– Vacation pays – year 1 & 2 – 4% added to each pay cheque
– Company paid annual lift pass at Revelstoke Mountain Ski Resort
