About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Occupational Health + Safety Specialist, will be accountable for planning, developing, and implementing occupational health & safety programs and policies to maintain the WorkSafe BC Certificate of Recognition (COR).
The Human Resources Division provides the District of West Vancouver employees with information, services, programs and advice on labour relations, recruitment, training and development, attendance awareness, employment services, payroll, compensation, benefits administration, and health and safety.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced, enthusiastic self-starter with a passion for occupational health and safety, and interest and/or experience in Human Resources and/or Labour Relations. The successful candidate will have an Occupational Health and Safety Diploma (and/or a related degree) as well as the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, supplemented by a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. The successful candidate will have direct experience in the planning, development, and implementation of health and safety programs within a public sector setting. Equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.
The successful candidate is required to supply a Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials. A personal vehicle and a valid BC Driver’s License are required.
This position is a full-time, permanent opportunity. The salary for this position is $91,600 – $103,100/year. The District offers an optional compressed work week schedule as well as excellent pension and benefit plans.
