Who We Are
Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC) is the leading independent clearing broker and custodian in the Canadian market. We provide trade execution, clearing, custody and back-office support services to Canadian-based brokerage firms and the Canadian brokerage arms of U.S.-based firms.
FCC is developing industry leading advisor platform capabilities for independent Portfolio Managers and Broker Dealer firms. This development will focus on providing integrated service, productivity, and revenue growth tools through implementation of systems supporting business process automation.

The Manager, Development FCC works with the development team to design and implement technical solutions within FCC Technology division covering large scope projects and automation of processes including improvements to the existing business support model.
The Manager, Development FCC will mentor and provide direction to the development teams, oversee the DevOps function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software solutions in accordance with business and client’s needs. The incumbent will establish and maintain policies and procedures that drive delivery of high-quality software products with focus on automation of business processes to improve efficiency.
As a Manager, Development you are considered an expert on the creation of comprehensive end-to-end solutions utilizing best development technologies and practices. A team of developers will report to this role either directly or through a Team Lead.
What You Will Do
The Manager of Development is accountable for development team’s activities when implementing client facing web-based workflows and automation software solutions. The following responsibilities are part of this role:
Mange the development team and delivery of products and services for a range of internal and external clients, meeting business objectives/goals.
Prioritize activities and allocate resources consistent with business strategy and objectives.
Co-ordinate activities with technology, business, and vendor teams.
Provide oversite during design, development, deployment, and defect remediation.
Ensure all unit testing and post-implementation reviews are conducted against critical success factors.
Provide on-going communication on development status, to senior management, assist with work effort estimation and determination of deliverable timelines.
Positively influence architecture, design, coding, and testing effort.
Liaise with internal and external user groups as needed and effectively work in an agile environment.
Allocate, monitor, and plan the task of team members utilizing agile practices.
Provide mentorship and coaching to other team members.
Provide training to enable other team members to meet/exceed expectation.
Conduct formal performance assessment of team members.
What We are Looking For
5+ years of experience building enterprise workflows (Appian platform or similar) as part of a technical lead role.
Working experience in web development with emphasis on Service-Oriented Architecture.
Able to lead development of automation processes at Fidelity by sharing effective delivery methods and following best practices.
In-depth knowledge of all aspects of workflow/automation framework and related architecture.
Experience with automation platforms (Appian, RPA or similar).
Prior experience working with: Angular (Typescript), JavaScript.
Experience with Java, RESTful API, Spring Boot.
Knowledge of SQL and database platforms such as Oracle, MariaDB.
Hands-on experience with an Agile methodology and the Atlassian stack (JIRA, Confluence).
Strong DevOps acumen.
The following are considered an asset:
Experience with DocuSign and document management platforms.
Wealth management, brokerage, or financial services experience.
Completion of the Canadian Securities Course.
The Expertise You Bring
Previous experience successfully managing group of developers when delivering large scope automation projects.
In-depth understanding and hands-on experience using Appian platform or similar framework.
Experience with implementation, and management of cloud-based systems focusing on automation.
Strong analytical, conceptual, and innovative problem-solving abilities combined with attention to details.
Very good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Good multitasking capabilities and ability to work effectively in an agile environment.
Education and Experience
University Degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
