Job Summary:
The Seasonal Nursery Worker assists with various tasks involved in the cultivation, maintenance, and care of plants, shrubs and trees during peak seasons. This role is temporary (until Nov 30), with responsibilities varying based on the needs of the nursery and the season.
Key Responsibilities:
Plant/Tree Care and Maintenance: Assist with planting, watering, fertilizing, potting and pruning of plants, shrubs and trees; Monitor plant health and report any signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies; Transplant seedlings or mature plants as needed.
Nursery Maintenance and Operations: Perform routine maintenance of the nursery grounds, including weeding, pruning, mulching, and soil preparation; Operate and maintain nursery tools and equipment, such as potting machine, irrigation systems, hand tools, and machinery; Assist with loading and unloading plants and materials for distribution.
Inventory Management: Assist in tracking inventory levels of plants, soil, fertilizers, and other supplies; Help with restocking and organizing nursery inventory; label and maintain accurate records of plant types and quantities.
Compliance and Safety: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment; Ensure compliance with nursery policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred; coursework or certification in horticulture or related field is an asset.
Experience: Previous experience in horticulture, nursery or greenhouse is an asset
