In this role, you will serve as the initial point of contact for our guests. Your welcoming attitude, effective communication, and commitment to delivering outstanding service are instrumental in fostering a positive guest experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Welcome guests to the Sooke Harbour House, and the Lounge/Dining upon arrival in a friendly and professional manner.
• Assist them with bags if needed.
• Check guests in and out of the hotel using the reservation system.
• Knowledge of hotel amenities, local attractions, and services to provide information to guests.
• Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally.
• Being able to manage the environment, colleagues and guests is crucial.
• Multi-tasking on many different tasks at once, whilst making sure you are optimal while utilizing time management.
• Answer phone calls and emails and assist with reservations and inquiries.
• Process payments and maintain accurate records of guest transactions.
• Being able to utilize in-house POS systems for all departments.
• Coordinate with other hotel staff to ensure smooth check-in and check-out processes.
• Assist with room assignments and room changes as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized front desk area.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the MOD.
• Having to do alternative tasks not always being pertained to Front Desk due to the nature of job and our small group of staff.
• Doing or picking up in room services, pertaining to dining, and special requests.
• Standing for long periods of time, and occasionally lifting luggage, bags, boxes and heavy items.
• Maintain a professional image, reflecting positively on the company.
Employment requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Experience working in a luxury hotel or high-end customer service environment is an asset.
Your Skills:
• Proficiency in using computers and experience with hotel management software is an asset.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with guests from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to address and resolve guest issues promptly and satisfactorily.
• High level of empathy and patience to provide a personalized experience for each guest.
• Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
• Thinking creatively, and efficiently to resolve issues.
• Enthusiastic self-starter and willingness to learn and grow.
• Repetitive tasks, combination of standing, and sitting for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 100 lbs. and lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
• Fluency in English.
• Positive attitude towards teamwork and willingness to assist colleagues.
• Strong organizational skills to manage reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and guest inquiries smoothly.
