Operations Accountant Full Time Permanent

Reporting to the Controller Operations Accounting, the Operations Accountant is responsible for supporting business units on monthly/quarterly/annual financial results. The Operations Accountant records financial information and this position will also ensure documentation for key controls is maintained to support 51-109 compliance & audit.

• Record month end accounting entries for accruals, inventory closing balances and intercompany transactions, amongst others for various business units
• Validate & record various adjustment entries and accruals based on directive from business finance
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the assigned balance sheet accounts through reconciliations and efficient working papers
• Clear multi-contract balances and reallocate amounts to applicable contracts via adjustment journal entries
• Engage in being a value-added partner to business finance units
• Record assigned corporate allocations to all business units in line with contract setup
• Ensure continuous improvement by developing and refining month-end processes to streamline procedures and create efficiencies which enable timely and accurate financial reporting
• Assist with ad-hoc reporting and special projects
• Support other accountants in task delivery and data validation projects

• Will typically possess a relevant educational background in Accounting or Business.
• Will possess or close to completing CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) designation.
• Must have at least 3 to 5 years experience in a Finance or Accounting type role·
• Experience with Onestream, NetSuite software and ERP implementations is considered an asset
• Must have proficient excel skills with ability to transform large datasets 
• Understanding of contract-based accounting workflows
• Basic understanding of IFRS & strong interpersonal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a fluctuating workload and set priorities to meet deadlines.
• Question account reconciliations and follow-up for unreconciled and items that need correction
• A results-oriented team player with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships within all levels of the organization.
