WHAT’S THE JOB?
The Area Chef Manager (Floater) will be responsible for assisting at various accounts in Southern Ontario. Primary responsibilities will be vacation coverage and multi unit support for our food service operations. Travel is required and flexibility is a must. Mileage and related expenses are paid.
As a Chef Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operation of the kitchen; ordering, managing inventory, budgets, planning menus, training of staff and ensuring that health and safety standards are being followed as per Dana Hospitality.
Your work will include:
Prepare fresh, scratch, menus for our guests
Support Chef Managers with productivity and compliance with policies and procedures including health, safety, and quality
Lead and support training, developing, and mentoring of employees
Ensure all foods are prepared using FOODSAFE and Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) methods, and in accordance with Dana Hospitality guidelines
Act as a good ambassador and maintain positive guest and client relationships
Use knowledge and understanding of dietary restrictions; allergies, vegan, and vegetarian in meal planning and preparation
Strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.
The ability to make thoughtful independent decisions while supporting a team work focused environment to ensure quality service and finical success.
Serve clients and staff in a personable and professional manner
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Food Safe, Basic, Advanced, First Aid, Red Seal Certification preferred or similar work experience
5+ years’ experience in the hospitality / food service industry
3+ years’ experience with the cooking competency and knowledge of international and domestic cuisines
You have knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, GFS, Outlook)
You have extensive knowledge of menu costing & inventory management,
Strong time management skills
You have an excellent practical and theoretical background in all areas of the kitchen i.e.: Hot Kitchens, Cold Kitchens, Pastry / Bakery, Butchery and Catering
You have an effective leadership style, positive outgoing personality and effective listening skills
Demonstrate values of Accountability, Respect, Health and Safety, and Trust
