Established in 2005 Subzi Mandi Cash & Carry (Subzi Mandi) is a staple grocery and carry-out food provider for South Asian families.
Offering the highest quality and authentic food, we are seeking an experienced butcher to join our team. This is a full-time permanent role, with an expectation for 40 hours of work per week.
The wage offered is $19.85/hr, with 4% vacation remuneration, no medical benefits. After 44 hours per week, eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times offered hourly wage, or as otherwise required by law.
Position: Retail Butcher
• Clean and debone meats to prepare them for processing or cutting
• Cut carcasses, sides, quarters, and standard cuts of meat, poultry, and fish according to customer orders
• Prepare special cuts of meat as requested by customers
• Remove bones from meat and trim as needed
• Grind meats using manual or power grinders
• Weigh and price meat products for sale
• Wrap and package fresh, frozen, or prepared meats
• Manage inventory, keep records of sales, and ensure the freshness and quality of products
• Adhere to HACCP, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), and food safety standards.
• Ensure food storage conditions meet safety regulations
• Prepare meat for delivery and supervise other meat cutters if necessary
• Operate and maintain equipment such as band saws, manual cutting utensils, and power grinders
• Sell meat products directly to customers, assisting with inquiries and special requests
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
– English communication skills (reading and verbal)
– Self-motivated and teamwork orientated
– 1-2 years previous experience as a retail butcher or experience as a meat cutter
– Work under pressure, Fast-paced environment, Standing for extended periods, Physically demanding, Hand-eye co-ordination
– Cold/refrigerated work site environment
