Join the Policy and Innovation Team where we accelerate housing affordability through evidence-based policy, research and disruptive innovation. You will work in agile ways with others to understand the housing ecosystem and lead multidisciplinary design teams in solving complex housing problem using Innovation Process. Specifically, in this role, you will identify, analyze, frame and prioritize complex problems addressing deep affordability needs or removing systemic barriers in the housing system. You will then explore ways to test, accelerate and scale solutions that solve them.

The Senior Specialist role plays an integral part in the team effort to design and deliver the best innovations for housing supply. As such, there is opportunity to lead project teams to design work approaches, define our activities through insights and participation, and to contribute to building a culture of innovation at CMHC.Â
Responsibilities:Â
Â
Contributes to the development of innovation strategy, governance, and tactics to support the advancement and maturation of the innovation program.
Considers and suggests innovation priorities based on an understanding of CMHC’s innovation culture and process and increasing awareness of the portfolio of innovation engagements.
Leads and/or supports the execution of innovation projects through the innovation life cycle using the appropriate techniques and/or methodologies.
Leads Project Management processes of engagements, including scrums, budgets, work plans, project status updates.
Provides informal coaching and support to team members on project work and in the division as a whole.
Identifies potential risks and points of resistance in engagements through ongoing risk analysis and recommends mitigation strategies.
Builds and maintains internal relationships in support of innovation programs and activities with influencers, management, and other stakeholders.
Participates in cross-functional activities and collaborates with a wide range of colleagues and internal stakeholders.
Plans and delivers targeted innovation education, awareness or focused campaigns related to sector learning activities, conferences, or other sessions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Â
Undergraduate degree in a Social science, Urban/Regional Panning/Design, Service Design, or in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and/or experience would be considered.Â
Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in innovation, housing policy, or program delivery.
Demonstrated experience or expertise in residential real estate, development, planning, construction, design or serving those with deep affordability needs and/or housing-related services.
Experience in partnership development, outreach, knowledge transfer and marketing across a broad network of diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience leading projects through different phases of an innovation process including concept development, prototyping and experimentation methods.
Experience with data collection, synthesizing findings, developing solutions and recommendations, and measuring impact.
Demonstrated ability in ‘’telling a story’’ through persuasive and clear presentations of ideas to gain acceptance of proposals or plans.
Bilingual (French and English).

Preferred Qualifications:
Â
Graduate degree in a Social science, Urban/Regional Planning/Design, Service Design, or in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and/or experience would be considered. Â
Certificates in Innovation, Human-Centred Design, Service Design domains.
Direct housing sector experience and solid knowledge of key players within the housing industry.Â
Experience in scaling solutions would be considered an asset (e.g., facilitating or managing key decisions and resources required to disseminate a solution across a system, a geography, or an audience).
