We are Portofino Bakery, one of British Columbia’s fastest-growing bakeries, serving an increasing
network of local grocery and food service customers across Western Canada. Portofino Bakery was
founded over 15 years ago in Victoria, BC with the mission to provide better artisan bread to the
local community in Victoria. Today, we have over 175 team members, 3 facilities and are continuing
our mission to enrich the lives of our customers with every baked good.
To expand the baker team, we are in search for competent individuals experienced in commercial
baking or catering.
Main Duties:
• Prepare dough for different recipes including bread, rolls and sweet goods
• Effectively mix dough(s) to recipe book standards and deliver on time to meet customer
demands
• Bake product in ovens to recipe book standards and deliver on time to meet customer
demands
• Meet or exceed speed and efficiency targets as set out in Intermediate Baker Training
• Performing a wide range of duties to ensure the packaging of all Portofino products
• Deliver company and bakery training as required
• Ensuring the work area is properly stocked with the correct packaging materials and that
management is aware of any low or out of stock products
• Cleaning and sanitizing all equipment, tools and, workspaces
• Follow quality standards and Food Safety Program (FSP)
• Ensuring all products meet quality standards and are sliced, packaged, labelled and dated
accurately in accordance with company policies and compliance requirements
• Reporting to the immediate supervisor or lead any questions or concerns regarding product
quality, equipment operation or safety concerns
• Assist with production management
Employment Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school
• Minimum 1 year of experience in commercial bakery or completion of some college or other
program for bakers
• Familiar with operating baking machinery/bread slicer and using chemical cleaning products
• Ability to be on feet for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
